La Chartreuse d’Aigre is a beautifully restored historic country home set within superb private grounds on the edge of a tiny Charente village. From the moment you arrive, the sense of space is unmistakable with charming courtyards, wonderful gardens, a heated pool and a private tennis court with sweeping views over open countryside.

Inside, the home has been thoughtfully renovated across two spacious floors. The heart of the house is the welcoming kitchen-diner with doors opening to the garden alongside a cosy living room with UK Satellite television. A dedicated games room adds an element of fun with its full-size pool table and card table.

Upstairs, four well-appointed bedrooms comfortably accommodate larger families or groups of up to 10 guests. Three double rooms benefit from ensuites, while the fourth features two double beds with a separate family bathroom.

The grounds have been curated for both relaxation and recreation. A heated swimming pool takes centre stage, framed by sun loungers and a poolside dining terrace where long, alfresco lunches and summer evenings come to life. There’s an open barn with table tennis and darts, a boules court and guests can also enjoy a superb new tennis court.

A short walk from the banks of the Charente River, the house is just a 10-minute drive from the pretty market town of Aigre. Here you’ll find cafés, local shops, a Thursday morning market and all essential amenities. The train station at Luxé, only 7km away, offers connections to Angoulême and Poitiers, while regional highlights include the historic abbey at Saint-Amant-de-Boixe and scenic walking trails through tranquil countryside.

Whether you're planning laid-back days in the garden or exploring the cultural and culinary delights of southwest France, La Chartreuse d’Aigre offers the space and elegance to make your holiday truly unforgettable.
