Surrounded by vast fields of golden wheat and summer sunflowers, Château Monjardin is a characterful and historic home in the Vienne countryside between Châtellerault and Richelieu. A 15th-century estate brought beautifully into the present, this fully restored château promises timeless charm and privacy. Within its walled gardens and generous lawns, guests are free to slow down and experience rural France at its most authentic.

Inside the main house, soaring ceilings, original fireplaces and oak-beamed spaces create an atmosphere both stately and welcoming. The kitchen, with its double-height ceiling and long farmhouse oak table, sets the scene for convivial meals prepared on the AGA. A formal dining room, quiet reading corners and a dedicated TV lounge with Wi-Fi ensure every guest can find their own rhythm. Upstairs, come across three traditional bedrooms and a family bathroom while two additional en suite rooms, one in the dovecote, another in the guest house annexe, offer further space allowing up to 8 guests to stay at the estate.

Outside, the shaded pavilion invites long lunches and sunset dinners, while the 13-metre solar-heated pool promises lazy afternoons in the height of the summer. The lawned garden is ideal for badminton and picnics in historic surroundings.

Located just five minutes by car from the village of Saint-Gervais-les-Trois-Clochers, Château Monjardin is perfectly placed for easy day trips. Local essentials are close at hand in the village while the historic towns of Richelieu and Châtellerault are within twenty minutes.

Venture further to discover the vineyards and medieval charm of Chinon, or cross the Loire to explore Saumur’s lively markets and riverside cafés. With direct trains from Châtellerault to Paris Montparnasse in under two hours, even a Paris day trip is within reach.

For those drawn to storied settings and expansive grounds, Château Monjardin offers a stay that is both rooted in history and designed for living well.
