Beneath a sky unpolluted by city lights, Maison Four à Chaux offers a stay imbued with character and comfort. Set in the sleepy village of Gournay-Loizé, this beautifully restored 19th-century manor house exudes the warmth of a family home with period touches. Shaded terraces, mature trees and an inviting private pool bordered by lavender create a setting designed for slow and relaxing days.

Inside, the house feels both timeless and welcoming. Spread across three floors, its generous proportions easily accommodate up to 8 guests. There is a large country-style kitchen-diner with a central island, while the vaulted cellar dining room adds a dash of character to evening meals. The gorgeous living room opens onto a front dining terrace, perfect for long lunches in the shade of the lime trees.

On the upper two levels, four bedrooms, including two with ensuite bathrooms, offer space for families or friends travelling together, each room finished with quality furnishings and soothing tones.

Outside, the private, heated pool with full-width steps is the centrepiece of the walled garden, overlooked by an elevated summer kitchen equipped with a drinks fridge and dining area. Older children and grown-ups alike will enjoy hours of friendly competition in the barn, home to table tennis, a skittle alley and table football on a mezzanine. This is a home designed for ease, relaxation and shared memories.

Surrounded by the gentle landscapes of the Deux-Sèvres, not far from the Vienne and Charente borders, Maison Four à Chaux sits within easy reach of charming towns and cultural gems. Just a short drive away, Chef-Boutonne offers all the essentials, while nearby Melle enchants with its Romanesque churches and vibrant Friday market. Days out might take you to Cognac’s distilleries, the futuristic thrills of Futuroscope or even the Atlantic shores of Île de Ré.

Maison Four à Chaux invites you to slow down and experience the charm of rural France at its most authentic.
